Acne in the Celebrity Spotlight. It’s Not Pretty.

August 19, 2008

Think it would be nice to live the celebrity lifestyle? It definitely has its perks, like VIP treatment and red-carpet events. And it’s hard not to look fabulous when you have photographers and makeup artists who are paid to make you look good.

With dermatologists at their beck and call, you’d think it would be easy for celebrities to have beautiful, clear skin. But, apparently, they struggle with acne care like the rest of us. There’s one major difference though… when they have a breakout, it could wind up in the news or on the ‘net.

Here’s our list of celebs who’ve been caught with acne:

Victoria Beckham

Some stars admit they’ve had acne problems, but not Posh Spice. She denies it fiercely. Almost too fiercely. She also claims the media manipulates photos to make her look bad.

Paris Hilton

This party girl has talked about her acne, but blames it on a heavy travel schedule. Whatever the reason, this photo is so not hot!

Jessica Alba

Jessica may be showing signs of pregnancy acne here, but she’s been spotted with acne before baby as well.

Ethan Hawke

A blogger calls this “serious acne.” We’re not sure it’s that bad, but Ethan’s known to have acne problems.

Keira Knightley

This down-to-earth beauty freely admits she’s battled acne for years and sometimes gets as much as 3 to 4 hours of makeup before filming. She’s also mentioned in interviews that she likes herbal medicines and has found them very helpful. (Hmmm… maybe we should introduce her to Oeco?) Her “Pirates of the Caribbean” co-stars, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, have also been seen with acne.

Drew Barrymore and Tyra Banks might be better at hiding it—that or we haven’t found the right photos—but they’ve both had issues with adult acne and have tried various acne treatments and skin care products over the years.

How would YOU like to go through puberty on stage?

Remember these teens the next time you curse about your zits and be glad you don’t have to deal with heavy acne in front of a global audience. That kind of pressure only adds to the stress and it’ll only get worse for new, freshman actors with the dawn of HDTV.

Jesse McCartney

Singer and actor Jesse McCartney is a teen heartthrob, but unfortunately, can’t hide heavy acne in these photos.

Harry Potter Actors

“We had to employ a special effects man to go through every frame clearing up their complexions,” said an insider of the latest Harry Potter movie. All three stars had acne during filming, although only Daniel Radcliffe is shown here.

Embarrassing as they are for the stars, these photos show us celebrities are human after all and have the same acne problems. The extra pressure, not to mention all of that heavy stage makeup, only works against them. We suggest they clear up with an acne-care system like Oeco, which has certified organic ingredients and is free of chemicals that don’t belong on skin (preservatives and harsh detergents, for example). We’ll even offer them free samples.

Get your own free sample of Oeco. (And no, you don’t have to be a celebrity.) It’s our way of introducing our new acne treatment and a great way to get camera-worthy skin.
